Section 43-45-4 — AMENDED
43-45-4. In addition to the any property provided for in §§ 43-45-2 and 43-45-3, the debtor, if the head of a family, may, each debtor, personally, or by an agent or attorney, may select as exempt property, pursuant to § 43-45-1, from all other of the debtor's other personal property, that is not absolutely exempt, goods, chattels, chattels,: (1) Chattels, goods, merchandise, money, or other personal property not to exceed exceeding, in the aggregate seven seven: (a) Seven thousand dollars in value; and, if not the head of a family, property as aforesaid of the value of five five, if the debtor is the head of a family; or (b) Five thousand dollars, which is also in value, if the debtor is not the head of a family; and (2) One motor vehicle, as defined in § 32-5-1, not exceeding five thousand dollars over any security interest on the motor vehicle. The property selected pursuant to this section exempt, and which shall must be chosen and appraised as provided by law.
